For the second straight year, the University of Louisville rowing team finished fourth in the South and 10th overall in the team standings at the South/Central Regional on Melton Hill Lake on Sunday. The Cards scored 208 points overall, while Virginia led the way in the South and overall with 407 points.
Michigan State was second overall with 371 points, followed by Ohio State with 351, Wisconsin with 348 and Michigan with 331. Clemson was sixth overall and second among South region teams with 320 points, while Tennessee was third in the South and eighth overall with 293.
The Cards had four crews competing on Sunday morning, including three petite final races. Leading the way for Louisville was its second varsity eight crew, which finished fourth in the petite final with a time of 6:58.20 across the 2,000-meter course. Minnesota led the way with a time of 6:54.20, while Michigan was second at 6:54.80. Clemson was third at 6:56.80 followed by UCF in fifth at 7:02.50 and Texas in sixth at 7:05.70.
In the varsity eight petite final, the Cards were fifth overall with a time of 6:56.92, while No. 11 ranked Ohio State led the way at 6:46.90. No. 18 Notre Dame was second at 6:48.08, followed by No. 16 Minnesota at 6:50.65 and Iowa at 6:55.30. Texas was sixth overall with a time of 7:04.39.
Louisville earned a sixth-place finish in the varsity four petite final with a time of 7:54.60, while Wisconsin earned the win with a time of 7:34.60. Notre Dame was second at 7:38.02, followed by Tennessee in third at 7:39.19, Texas in fourth at 7:46.67 and UCF in fifth at 7:49.47.
In the open four `C' final, the Cards were second overall with a time of 8:12.30, trailing only Tennessee with a time of 8:06.20. Miami was third at 8:19.20, followed by Iowa at 8:21.60 and Kansas in fifth at 8:23.20.
